Tracking is an essential part of affiliate marketing.

Simply put, you need to know which efforts yield the best results. If you run a smaller affiliate site, it is relatively easy to keep track of your performance manually. As you expand your affiliate business, tracking becomes more complex.

As an affiliate with multiple sites, thousands of posts, and hundreds of affiliate partners, I can’t simply log in to all of my affiliate accounts and “connect the dots.”

This is where tools like Affilimate come in. Before we dive into our Affilimate review, let’s discuss what the tool is and who may benefit from it.

affilimate

What is Affilimate?

Affilimate is an analytics tool built specifically for affiliate marketers. While the platform has a lot of unique features, there are two main benefits worth noting:

  1. Data Aggregation
  2. Improved reporting

Affilimate connects to all of your affiliate accounts and provides reporting in a convenient dashboard. This solves the problem of having to log in to dozens of affiliate accounts to track your commissions.

Affilimate also provides tools for better reporting. The software helps answer questions like:

  • Which pages on your site generate the most revenue?
  • Which offers are performing best?
  • Which placements on your site are performing best?

You can quickly discover the RPM, CTR, and revenue at the page-level. You can also track the EPC of specific offers. All of these data points can be analyzed over time, allowing affiliates to optimize and increase earnings.

We’ll dive deeper into the features later in the review, but for now, let’s determine who Affilimate is ideal for and how it compares to some alternative options.

Who is Affilimate Best For?

Affilimate is best for affiliate marketers and niche website builders with established affiliate marketing businesses. What does this mean?

Affilimate is ideal for online marketers who:

  • Run niche/authority websites
  • Monetize with affiliate offers
  • Generate $1,000+ per month
  • Are members of multiple affiliate networks/programs
  • Have 50+ articles on their websites

Let’s dive deeper into this.

First off, if you monetize your sites with banner ads, you don’t need this tool.

Second, if you are still in the early stages of building your affiliate business, you may not need this tool yet. While Affilimate is affordably priced, smaller site owners can (and should) garner most of the available insights manually.

For example, if you have a site with less than 50 articles promoting offers across a couple of big networks, you should be able to track your results manually. Not only is this process manageable, but it also helps you improve your analysis skills.

The real value of Affilimate comes in when you are tracking dozens (or hundreds) of affiliate offers across hundreds of posts (on one or multiple websites). When you reach this stage in your affiliate marketing journey, tracking becomes more difficult. Checking everything manually is not only inefficient – it may also be costing you money.

For example, I run sites where I have 1,000+ posts and the bulk of my focus is on the most lucrative offers. I often neglect offers that are only generating a few sales per month, even though they may represent excellent growth opportunities. Imagine if you could extract an extra $100/month in revenue from 10 posts on your sites. That’s an extra $1,000 month. Apply that to 100 posts and you are making an extra $10,000/month.

We’ll get deeper into these numbers later in the review, but first, let’s take a look at how Affilimate compares to some of the alternative options.

How Does Affilimate Compare to Other Software?

Many digital marketers are SAAS junkies. They are always looking for a new tool to add to their tech stack.

After going through this process one too many times, you start thinking about the practicality of adding another tool to your tech stack. Do you really need this new tool? Are you actually going to use it? Is this the right tool to achieve your goal?

After being in the digital marketing industry for almost a decade, I’m always hesitant to add new software to my tech stack. When I do add new software, I want to make sure it is the right software. Testing new software is costly and time-consuming so I want to make sure I get it right.

So, if you are comparing Affilimate to other competing tools, how do you know if it is right for you?

I already discussed the ideal user of Affilimate, so now I’ll share a bit of my personal experience that led me to use Affilimate.

Affilimate has two main benefits – reporting and tracking.

When considering competing tools, you need to think about which benefits are most important to you. For example, tools like Affluent offer great reporting, but the “tracking” component leaves a lot to be desired. Tools like AnyTrack offer great tracking, but the tracking is geared more towards paid advertisers.

The closest competitor to Affilimate is Tracknomics, an enterprise-level software that offers a similar suite of features.

I initially tested Trackonomics for a few months in 2021 before canceling. While Tracknomics is a great tool (that may even have more features than Affilimate), it had three clear issues for me:

  1. “Enterprise” Management Style
  2. Too Expensive
  3. Too Slow

Trackonomics is clearly built for large publishers with budgets to match (think “BuzzFeed”). A lot of the setup is done with the help of a support team instead of the “self-serve” format I prefer. The software pricing starts at $300/month, so it’s far from cheap. On top of that, I felt like the interface was slow, making it difficult to efficiently navigate through reports.

After canceling Trackonomics, I switched back to my manual tracking for a while, and then I discovered Affilimate.

While I’m still in the early stages of adding Affilimate tracking to my websites, I am already a fan of the platform for a few main reasons:

  1. It is simple to use (no fluff features or overcomplications)
  2. It is fast
  3. It is affordable
  4. It is effective

With that said, let’s start taking a look at some of the key features.

Affilimate Features

Affilimate offers features that make it easier to track your efforts and identify opportunities to increase revenue. On top of that, the reporting is convenient and the platform is easy to navigate.

Setup

Getting started with Affilimate is simple.

Add your site to the Affilimate dashboard and install a code snippet on your site. From there, Affilimate will automatically scan your site for all affiliate links.

affilimate tracking setup

Once you’ve gone through the setup process, you can start adding your affiliate network integrations.

Integrations

Affilimate has an impressive range of affiliate network integrations. This is crucial for this type of tool. What good is reporting if it is missing key data?

Setting up integrations on Affilimate is simple and there is documentation to guide you through integrating with each network. I was able to integrate with 15+ networks in less than 30 minutes.

Popular integrations include:

  • Shareasale
  • CJ
  • Partnerize
  • Impact
  • Post Affiliate Pro
  • Flex Offers
  • Everflow
  • Awin
  • Tune
  • Amazon
  • Clickbank
  • And more!

I was able to connect to all of the most important affiliate accounts I wanted to track (which is more than can be said for competing tools).

affilimate integrations

Another thing I like about Affilimate is that the platform can import historical data, so you have instant access to valuable insights.

Smart Link Tracking

When you set up your integrations, you have the opportunity to “Smart Label” links at the network-level. The Smart Label feature is used to automatically add sub-ID’s to your affiliate links to improve tracking and insights in the reports.

This feature saves a ton of time and adds a ton of value (and let’s be honest, many of us are too lazy to use sub-ID’s properly). The only thing you’ll need to be conscious of is avoiding conflicts with any of the sub-ID tracking you already have set up.

Performance Reporting

After you set up your site and integrations, you can start going through reports. Reports can be viewed at the site-level or the account-level.

The first report worth checking is the Performance Report. This is a higher-level summary of your site’s performance.

You can view earnings across a specified date range, with a chart to help you analyze trends.

Below the chart is a breakdown of the specific commissions generated each day.

affilimate transaction reporting

The Performance Report offers a fast and easy way to understand how well your site is performing.

If you want to get deeper into the analytics, you can navigate to the content analytics.

Content Analytics

While the Performance Report offers insights at the site-level, the Content Analytics offer insights at the page-level. This is where you can really start looking for opportunities to increase your site’s revenue.

The content analytics report includes the following metrics:

  • Page URL
  • # of Pageviews
  • # of Outbound Clicks
  • Page CTR
  • RPM (revenue per thousand pageviews)
  • EPIC (earning per click on affiliate offers)
  • Earnings (total affiliate commissions for that page)
  • Items Sold

You can sort by any of the columns or export the data for further analysis in Excel or Google Sheets.

The content analytics also show trends, which helps you keep track of relative performance (i.e. increases in pageviews, drops in CTR, etc.)

affilimate content analytics report

If you click on one of the pages in the report, you can get even more insights. These include:

  • In-depth trends (charts + transactions)
  • Heatmaps (i.e. tracking clicks on the page)
  • Revisions (i.e. changes to the page)
  • Audience Insights (Device and Country)
  • Link Performance (Performance of each affiliate link on the page)
affilimate content analytics page level

There are so many valuable insights in these reports. Here are just a few practical applications:

  • Trends can show you anomalous data such as a spike or drop in revenue
  • The heatmaps can show you exactly which links visitors are clicking on
  • The link performance report can show you which offers are performing best on your page (in case you want to make them more prominent or replace underperforming offers)
  • The revisions tracking can help you gauge your optimization efforts (i.e. determine if a new CTA, content edit, or redesign is performing well)

While these reports are data-rich, they are not overwhelming. The reports are easy to analyze, allowing affiliate marketers to garner actionable insights.

Link Management

Affilimate offers a Links Report to help users analyze performance at the link-level. This is particularly helpful for identifying underperforming offers or broken links.

affilimate link performance

For example, if the majority of your links have a $10 EPC and you spot one with a $1 EPC, you may want to swap the offer or check for a broken link.

Affilimate also includes an automated tool for checking Amazon links, but this tool is not available for other networks at the moment.

Affilimate Benefits

By this point in our Affilimate review, the benefits should be clear, but we’ll summarize them for anyone skimming through.

Convenient Reporting

The first benefit is straightforward. Affilimate makes it easy to track earnings across multiple sites and networks in one convenient dashboard. If you are logging into dozens of affiliate accounts to track your performance, you are wasting your time. Affilimate makes it easy to track performance with a few clicks.

Revenue Analytics

Most affiliate marketers utilize Google Analytics to track performance. While Google Analytics provides great insights, it is missing the most salient metric for any online marketer – revenue. Who cares about pageviews? We’re in this game to make money.

Affilimate allows you to track revenue generation the same way Google Analytics allows you to track site visitors.

Granular Content Analytics

Affilimate enables affiliate marketers to track performance at the page-level. This is huge, especially when you manage multiple sites and multiple affiliate offers. For example, if you promote the same offer across multiple pages, don’t you want to know which pages are generating the best results?

Optimization Opportunities

Affilimate helps you squeeze every last penny out of your affiliate marketing efforts. The insights available in the Content Analytics cannot be undersold. If you comb through this data, you will find opportunities to increase revenue.

Here are just a few of the ways you can use Affilimate to increase revenue:

  • Identify pages with a low CTR and make affiliate offers more prominent
  • Identify pages with a low RPM and test new offers
  • On pages with multiple offers, replace underperforming offers (low CTR or EPC) with better performing offers
  • Identify which CTAs are most effective and utilize them across articles
  • Track the impact of page revisions to see if they actually improve your results (stop guessing!)
  • Use links reports to identify underperforming offers or broken links
  • For sites using a hybrid “ads + affiliate offers” model, Identify pages with a high RPM and remove ads

Affilimate Pricing

One of the main things that attracted me to Affilimate was the pricing. There’s no doubt that the tool is packed with powerful features, but whenever I try new software, I am also conscious of the cost. If a tool is priced at $99/month, I need to determine whether or not I really want to spend $1,200/year on it (on top of all of the other tools I pay for).

Affilimate’s pricing is incredibly fair and affordable. At the time I’m writing this review, plans start at $29/month. Pricing is based solely on pageviews and there are no upsells. Every user gets access to all of the features. Pricing is as follows:

  • 100,000 Pageviews – $29/month
  • 250,000 Pageviews – $59/month
  • 500,000 Pageviews – $99/month
  • 1,000,000 – $199/month

Annual subscriptions include two months free for any of the packages.

affilimate pricing

Once again, pageviews are the only differentiator between plans and these pageviews can be used across multiple sites.

Another thing I like about the pricing structure is that it is comfortable to grow into. You don’t have to worry about getting priced out as your business grows. Each tier is fairly priced (and the pageview limit is very generous).

It’s almost impossible not to get value out of Affilimate at these prices.

If you have a site with 50,000-100,000 pageviews, you will likely make multiples of the $29/month subscription fee if you use the platform effectively.

Customer Service

Whenever I use a new tool (especially one from a relatively new company), I want to make sure it is backed by quality customer service. A tool like Affilimate connects with your affiliate networks and may have a direct impact on your revenue, so quality customer service is essential.

I consider myself to be a self-directed user, but I do have the occasional question. I reached out to Affilimate a few times, and I was impressed with the responses. I always got an email reply within 24 hours and the responses were thoughtful, well-written, and insightful.

Overall, I am impressed with the customer service so far. On top of that, the documentation is exceptional.

Final Thoughts on Affilimate

Affilimate is an excellent tool for any affiliate marketer who runs an established (or growing) niche or authority website. The platform offers all of the features you need to build and grow your affiliate business effectively.

The analytics provide valuable insights that can help you increase your bottom line month after month. On top of that, the pricing is incredibly fair.

If you are looking for a way to track your performance and increase your monthly revenue from affiliate marketing, Affilimate is an excellent choice.
